Alyson Day (she/her)
I decided to train as a birth doula after my experience of unexpected birth outcomes that resulted in two emergency C-sections. I longed to understand the joy of birth that I hadn’t received. Upon taking my training, I became engrossed in the beauty of the birth journey and knew that I wanted to support mothers through this life-changing process. Each birth I attend is as unique as the baby that is delivered. I approach parents and families as their companion, centering the birth experience based on your individual preferences and needs.
My approach is holistic, focusing on mind, body, and spirit. I am a Reiki practitioner and offer meditation and visualization exercises to help with pain management and grounding. I also specialize in pregnancy after loss and support the challenges that come with navigating high-risk pregnancies.
In addition to completing the DONA-approved doula certification at Mother Tree, I am THW certified and have CPR and trauma-informed birth training. I am also a Postpartum International Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional, which enables me to assess and screen for perinatal mental health disorders, which impact 20% of birthing parents.
