Alice Kennerly (she/her)

When I arrived in Portland, I discovered this amazing person that does acupuncture, who ignited a spark within me. During one magical session, I felt an overwhelming sense of freedom and calmness. In that moment, I realized my purpose: to help others experience the same lightness that I felt in that moment.

I dedicated time to exploring what truly resonated with my heart, and soon, fate presented me with a scholarship to train as a doula and work with Providence. This opportunity felt like a calling. Reflecting on the stories shared by my grandmother, my mom, my sister, and many other people, where childbirth was often framed as a traumatic experience, I understood that it didn’t have to be that way.

In 2024, I embarked on this beautiful journey. Since then, I have had the honor of supporting people from all around the world, learning firsthand how non-judgmental, open, and loving support can transform a life story. Becoming a doula has revealed to me just how essential and transformative compassionate care can be in our society. It has fueled my passion to spread the idea that we don’t have to face life’s milestones alone, even if we are perfectly capable of managing on our own.

I am honored to walk alongside you on your journey and share the warmth, strength, and beauty of a caring community. No matter who you are and where you come from, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Alice was an excellent doula, a great companion during my pregnancy and
postpartum process. She was always attentive to what you needed and available at any
moment to answer questions. She also anticipated with exercises and information that were
very helpful for understanding this process we are experiencing and for providing us with the
necessary tools. Moreover, she used images and videos to make the information she shared as
clear as possible.
She undoubtedly helped me with pregnancy-related pain, always taking care of my physical
well-being as well as my emotional state. She was a key figure especially in the emotional
aspect. My daughter loved it when we had visits with Alice because she is very helpful and
affectionate, and she has a very warm, human touch.
During my delivery, she was constantly attentive, helping me manage the pain, suggesting
positions and exercises to help with dilation, always asking what I needed, if I felt comfortable,
and making sure that what is usually a challenging process for us expectant mothers was as
calm and comfortable as possible.
And during the postpartum period, she was undoubtedly a great support in the first days, as
helpful as ever. Additionally, she is very proactive with everything, making sure to have all the
necessary materials and items one might need during delivery.
