Tamarra Ragland (she/her)
From a very young age, I’ve been drawn to nurturing babies and caring for others. As the third child in a large family, some of my earliest memories are of collecting baby dolls and lovingly tending to them. When my mother became a labor and delivery nurse, I was always eager to help out at her childbirth classes. You could say I’ve been surrounded by birth and postpartum care my entire life.
That deep-rooted connection to caregiving evolved, and after having my own child, I experienced firsthand how transformative—yet vulnerable—the perinatal period can be. As a woman of color, I also became acutely aware of the disparities that exist in maternal care and how differently we are often seen and treated. That experience strengthened my commitment to doula work and deepened my passion for supporting all birthing people with dignity, respect, and love.
For the past eight years, I’ve worked as a birth and postpartum doula in both the Los Angeles and Portland areas, serving a diverse range of families through every stage of the perinatal journey. As a doula, my goal is to be a calming, supportive presence for growing families. I believe every parent deserves to feel seen, heard, and empowered as they welcome their baby. Whether you need a hand with newborn care, emotional support, or simply someone to help you find your footing, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care.
Every family’s story is unique, and I’m honored to be a part of yours—celebrating the beauty, holding space for the challenges, and welcoming your little one with love.

About Tamarra
My husband, our two children, and I share a life filled with love and laughter.
I have excellent hand-eye coordination, a skill honed from an early age thanks to an active upbringing with a sports-loving older brother.
I find peace and clarity at the beach—listening to the waves and meditating are my go-to ways to recharge.
I’ve recently taken up pickleball and enjoy the fun, fast-paced nature of the game.
I remain calm and composed under pressure, a trait strengthened by my experience as an EMT-Basic.
“I met Tamarra when my son was a few weeks old, I was struggling with feeling overwhelmed and not taking proper care of myself. She helped me get rest while supporting the adjustment into being a new mom. Her support was invaluable during my postpartum period, and I am forever grateful for the comfort and knowledge her care brought.”
